As linux has TCP/IP networking stack with four layers INTERFACE LAYER
(physical and data link layer), PROTOCOL LAYER(network and transport
layer), SOCKET LAYER, APPLICATION LAYER(presentation. session and
application layer), and what is the structure of sun SOLARIS
networking ?

and how SOLARIS networking differs from linux netwoking in
functionality at each layer of architecture ?

have you ever heard of something called OSI?

I think they heard of something called homework, and need to get going.

I'd guess that the OSI model was one of the main topics in whatever class
this particular assignment question comes from...

Do U have any Idea, it's(ISO-OSI) an different networking model than
TCP/IP
ISO-OSI is basically an reference model. It's not a design model of
any OSs
Each OS has it's own design model with reference to these OSI & TCP/IP
reference models.

AS far as NET3 model designed for UNIX based LINUX OS, it has got
these layers which I have mentioned here. within brackets I have given
the ISO-OSI reference layer. Previously mentioned layers are the
examples of it.

Each layer has combined functionality with it's related layers in
ISO-OSI model.

Have U seen a design model of Windows Netwoking, it has got some
different structure NDIS which is an interface between your so called
ISO-OSI model.
NDIS has features of both physical layer and data link layer also.

You must be having only therotical knowledge about networking, come
out of it try to think in design point of view.
