Actually, these are the type of platforms many would be interested in to
make a wireless router/firewall in the case of using wifi or other wireless
data methods. I personally am going to try Ricochet when I'm in San Diego
for the next three months since it is now under 30 dollars a month and the
modems can be bought for 7 bucks on Ebay. I can go month to month with my
own hardware. Right now, I'm using IPCop 1.4 beta 8 in an old Packard Bell
with a pci card reader and a 200 mhz processor with 128 MB ram that I had
to buy special so it would work with Packard Bells. This is a 2U sized case
but you could get something 1/5 the size and possibly more power with the
soekris boards. I can't wait to try one myself.
