Socket operation on non socket

I'm trying to add a wireless adapter to my daughter's
computer and I'm receiving the follwoing message. Any
ideas on how to handle?

What is the EXACT error message, word for word?

This is often caused by adware, spyware or other unwanted pests present on
the computer. See my clean-up guide at
