Socket error message

I am trying to set up a network using Linksys Wireless Router and remote
devices. The router set up fine and is on a system that runs Win XP, but the
other desktop running Win ME and remote isn't setting up right and gives a
message 10038: socket operation on non-socket.

I called Linksys and they said that I should look on the internet for
"socket" programs. That was a futile search...

Anyone have any ideas? Help!

C

I’ve had this same problem for a couple of days now. I’ve finally
fixed it by going to microsoft’s knowledge base article 274498: "The
page cannot be displayed" error message after you upgrade to windows
me". This wasn’t my problem, but I knew that there was something
wrong with the winsock2 registry key, but couldn’t figure out how to
rebuild it. Step 2 tells you how you can rebuild your winsock2
registry key. By following the steps(I skipped to step 2) I was
finally able to get rid of that error 10038 problem that’s been
bugging me for the past few days and connect to the internet!!

If you followed Tip #3 per my suggestion, you could've downloaded a free
program that does all this for you in an instant with the click of the
mouse...

To each his own.
