There must be a million links to this site from all around the world, and
it just displays a blank page:

http://www.scyld.com/network/

Granted, this is a very slight improvement on 404 errors of a week or so
ago.

Serious credibility problem here. How much trouble is it to display a
message or redirect users to another part of the site? None at all.

Ditto the associated Beowulf.org site which has been displaying this
message for weeks:

"beowulf.org is temporarily offline. We hope to have it up again soon"

A lot harder than you might think under some circumstances. (Sure
they would take donated hosting if you're offering ;-)

http://www.scyld.com/network.html is probably what you need now ;-)
or
http://www.scyld.com/community.html

Noticed the re-organiztion efforts myself ...

BTW, the link you have just loads the last vestiges of the old
directory -- it's empty now.

Try ftp:

ftp://www.scyld.com/pub/network/

Some web sites rearrange html pages all the time,
while ftp folders remain as_is.
