SNR & Attenuation levels on your ADSL line

After recent lighning experiences I decided to try re-routeing my ADSL
router via phoneline ant-surger filter.

The attenuation has increased from 18/11db(downstream/upstream) to 19/12db.
SNR held steady at 18.5db.

How do these levels compare with others (measured on a D-Link DSL504 less
than 1km from exchange).

The 504 was the only item attached to a phoneline that didn't sustain
damage - so it must be pretty well defended within.

Any downside to this 'belt & bracers' approach?

Well, those levels you indicate are very low (ie, very very good for
DSL)

Mine is 69/31 and SNR 3.5dB
Not a mistake - true, and at 7km away from the exchange - Smokin!

I know the max atten but does BT quote the worst SNR for good BB?

Dunno, but don't tell BT about your installation!

What speeds are you getting?

Depends on times, smallest pipe the data has to pass through etc. I
regularly get 45-52k for MP3s, but at least it stays synched.
Not too many errors either - cut and paste the router details, hope it comes
out. I get 4dB SNR during the day!!!
Downstream Upstream
Line Status ADSL Link Speed 576 kbps 288 kbps
SNR 4.0 dB -
ATEN 69 dB 31 dB
Line Error ADSL layer FEC 9 0
CRC 18 969
ATM layer HEC 8 487
Frame Counter 5445847 5733144

Loop Distance: About 14 K ft.

I'm about 1km from the exchange - cable run is 1.9km

from my router:

Solwise adsl> show perf
Downstream :
Capacity Occupation : 11 %
Noise Margin : 29
Attenuation : 36
Output Power : 12
Upstream :
Capacity Occupation : 37 %
Noise Margin : 25
Attenuation : 31
Output Power : 17
