SMTP troubles

I have the following situation:
I'm trying to setup a mail server. I've installed SMTP/POP3 and have
successfully configured a mailbox. I'm using Outlook Express, when the
Send/Recieve button is pressed no error pops up. It all seems fine, but the
email message does not reach its destination. Same thing in the opposite
direction, I send myself a message from Yahoo, Yahoo's mail service does not
report any errors upon sending the message, yet I still don't see anything in
my mailbox. Any ideas. Any help is much appreciated!
