Hi folks.

If this is the wrong group, please point me to an apropriate one.

I read today in a Norwegian netpaper (IT-avisen) that AOL is starting
experimenting with the spf protocol extention for smtp.

And I'm wondering if this is implementer world wide,
does that mean that homeusers like me with dynamic IP is reacing the end
of private homebased smtp emailservers?

I have a domain (solbu.net) and all my emails have both the from header
& return-path with @solbu.net. Due to security & (previous) lack of knowlege
I (stil) do not run a mailserver for my domain at home.
(All mails are sendt to my ISP mailadress account
& fetched using fetchmail "on demand")

I do however run a private smtp server that realy all outgoing mail
to my ISP's mailserver.

Asuming these new protocols are beeing used,
can I no longer send emails from my box using my own domain
from my box at home?

No. RMX/SPF/DMP ("Reverse MX schemes") contain nothing that would prevent
homeusers from running their own servers. This is in contrast with some STMP
"replacements", like AMTP.

Reverse MX schemes don't change anything in reception, except that receiving
server checks if sender is reverse MX for domain.

In configuration you describe, you would need to add your ISP's reverse
MXes to be reverse MXes for your domain. This can accomplished in two
ways:

1) Copy your ISP's Reverse MX lists and add those to your own domain.
2) Add Reverse MX include to your domain, pointing to your ISP's domain.

Latter is preferrable, because if ISP changes its RMX lists, you would
probably need to change yours too, if you just copied the data. First
is included because all RMX schemes don't necressarily support including
(SPF, which is the best candidate currently, does)

If you use your own box to directly send mail out to world (and not relay
through ISPs servers), you need to put that box into RMX lists (by
address or fully-qualified name).
