HI All,

I get the following error logged in the system error log in a W2K3 server
using it's SMTP server to send mail.

Message delivery to the host "<xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx>" failed while delivering to
the remote domain "<server.co.uk>" for the following reason: Unable to
successfully connect to the remote server.

The recipient confirms that they don't have any security / firewall
restrictions.

What could be causing this error?

Please help

Kind Regards,

Devapriya De Silva

Hi - I noticed you have a reply to this identical post in another group.
Please don't multipost - if you need to post to multiple groups, it's best
to crosspost instead, by posting a single message to a handful of relevant
groups (separate the NG names with commas) so that everyone can follow the
thread. Thanks :-)

It's a failure to connect. For some reason your SMTP service can't
connect to theirs. You may not be able to get througha firewall, you
may not be able to find the MX record for the remote system due to a
DNS error or a number of other possibilities. Try the SMTP group and
look at the SMTP log to see what the connection attempt is.
