I have seen lots of posts regarding problems configuring email to work
witb btbroadband. bt do have smtp servers. try configuring you outlook
express or other local client account for outgoing mailserver
smtp.btinternet.com your mail will fly from your account while leaving
your incoming pop as say pop.freeserve.com if you have freeserve mail.
You will not need a password for the smtp server so the username and
password in the configuration box in outlook express should be the one
for your pop or freeserve account.

You cant use mail.btinternet.com anymore, unless you happen to have a
@btinternet.com / @btopenworld.com or @talk21.com (premium mail)
account, because their server now requires SMTP authentication.
