Need some advice on why a SMC 54M G PCI adapter is detected as a "PCI
Communications" device on a Win98 machine. The PC is a P3-500M no name
motherboard with integrated video, ethernet and sound.

Manually adding the H/W in Control Panel using the CD failed as well.

I've tried to disabling the PNP option in BIOS. Turing off the onboard
ethernet adapter but that didn't help.

Any ideas on what to do? This isn't covered on the SMC support web
site.

Thanks,
Art
