Hello,

I need some help, for the past 2 days I have been trying to get a
smc2802w wireless pci card to work in suse pro8.2. I have printed out
documentation on iwconfig, pcmcia and whole host of other technical
data. However, I still cannot get the card to load.

I thought I had it, because I used the orinoco_cs driver and selected
pcmcia in Yast network devices. Although when booting lilo showed eth0
done, but in the /var/log it stated that it could not load a module.
The module orinoco_cs was selected.

If i run ifconfig -a ..it does not show any card available
if I run iwconfig eth0..it states no extensions loaded. I have also
done a modprobe orinoco and it loaded the module, yet I still cannot
see the card loaded anywhere.

When doing a dmesg, it shows harris semiconductor for the card and it
also shows up in harddrake..although it is listed as a ethernet device
and when setting up through yast networking, it will state SMC on
eth0, but when configuring for wireless it does not work.

anyway, any help in this would be appreciated. Right know the card
works in WinXP and this is how I am able to get to post this thread.
Please help, can't take much more of the Windows..I might jump out of
it soon....:-)

Thanks

See <http://ruslug.rutgers.edu/~mcgrof/802.11g/>. Their driver claims
to support Prism GT (aka. ISL3880).

No idea how well it works.
