SMB vs AFP for MAC

Hello,

We have a little problem with AFP vs SMB on my Windows 2003 server. I'm not
sure if there is a trick to getting it to work. When our MAC clients copy
files using SMB, the fonts get dropped - I think it has something to do with
the way macs don't include extensions for known file types (not sure). If
they copy using AFP, the files get copied correctly including the fonts.
However if they use AFP they only get short names so they links to their
original long names don't work. If they use SMB, they get the long names
but the files don't copy fully.
