SMB Connection Questions....

I'm looking at the new Windows Server 2008 Foundation product and am trying
to determine if the built in 25 SMB connection limit is too limiting for
potential clients but I don't have a firm understanding of what an SMB
connection is. My first question is: If a user has 5 files open on the
server is this 5 SMB connections or just one?

Thanks,

Randy

Hello Randy P.,

It is 30 instead of 25. This means that the total combined number of user
accounts and devices that can connect to the server at any given time cannot
exceed 30. Connection attempts that exceed the allowable 30 receive a message
informing them that the server cannot accept any additional connections at
that time.

Thanks Meinolf,

To clarify - if a user opens 5 shared files from a client computer then
that will be one connection?

Thanks,

Randy

Hello Randy P.,

One user/computer can use in my opinion more then one document, because there
is counted one connection, but the sessions to the document's should not
count.
