We used to have the following setup:

Cable modem (Internet)
|
|
Windows XP Pro (used as a Server)
| |
| \_ A) Windows XP Pro (used as a Client)
|
|_ B) Windows XP Pro (used as a Client)

We would set up WXP(Server) with:
- Network Bridge: To conect network cards A and B so that they both are in
the same segment.
- Internet Connection Sharing (ICS): To share the internet connection to
clients A and B.

We hve now upgraded WXP(Server) to Small Business Server 2003 nd the network
bridge feature is nowhere to be found. It used to be just a matter of
selecting both network interfaces A and B, right-clicking and selecting
"Bridge Connections". This option is not available anymore.

Does anyone know if the option is still there? Is the only option to buy a
switch and end up with this set up?

Cable modem (Internet)

Windows XP Pro (used as a Server)
|
Switch
| |
| \_ A) Windows XP Pro (used as a Client)
|
|_ B) Windows XP Pro (used as a Client)

Thanks,

Daniel

Hi,

SBS 2003 does more advanced network sharing features, so the network bridge
feature isn't needed

I'd post this to the SBS group, microsoft.public.windows.server.sbs, and
they will probably be able to get you set up quicker than I can

Just buy a cheap $30 hub or switch and run only two nics instead of three.

Cable modem (Internet)
|
|
Windows XP Pro (used as a Server)
|
|
Hub (or switch)
| |
| \_ Windows XP Pro (used as a Client)
|
|_ Windows XP Pro (used as a Client)

Buy a hardware router and forget about Windows router. You do not want to
expose the SBS to the Internet directly.
