installed small business server 2003, great little bit of software, however,
after taking my blue yonder broadband off my laptop, and trying to get it
onto the new server, i started having problems. I have powered off the
modem
for over 2 mins and let it reset, connected it all up, my network cards are
being seen, however my dhcp is not configured and haven't figured out how to
yet. But the strange one is when i run the software for blueyonder when it
diagnoses the system it wont let me go any further than the diagnosis as it
says my oporating system is not new enough? it needs to be 98 or higher?
I am attempting to put my modem directly into the server, then routing it
from the server to a hub and onto my other 2 pcs,
Am i right in assuming the network connection directly to the modem is
static and to the network card that goes to the hub be dynamic? that is how
i
have it, basically because it wont allow me to do it the other way.
Any help much appreciated

Hi

You need to have two network cards in your server and plug your BY in one
and configure the card for DHCP and plug the other card into your hub along
with all the other PCs on your LAN. You can then run the internet
connection wizard to set the server up to route the internet traffic.

Trust that helps

getting an error message popping up when i go into the internet connection
wizard

the wizard cannot set the DHCP scope options, ensure that the DHCP server
service is running and that a scope is defined. Alternatively, disable the
DHCP service manually, and then configure your client computer IP
properties.

I generally use two NIC cards, and then drop in a small cable/dsl router
(like Linksys BEFSR11) between my Internet DSL/Cable connection and my
server's NIC card. The other NIC card is then connected to the hub or switch
that all my other workstations are connected.

For example network configurations, go to www.smallbizserver.net and click
on Networks.

There is no relevant NG in this cross-post. Read the server Help about ICS
and RRAS and explore www.wown.com for starters.

spadger,

Have you verified that your hardware will work with Server
2003 SB? You should check the compatibility listing in
the Windows Catalog for Server 2003. Good luck.
