SMail Routing Configuration Help!

I'm looking for some instructions on how to configure smail to deliver
mail based on the domain name. I know this sounds strange but I have
some email issues and I'm looking for a "technical Linux" solution.

What I'd like is to be able to have a default smart host for SMTP
delivery and an exception list that goes to a second host.

I'm wondering if anyone has done this or come across instructions.

I have 2 smtp servers (smarthosts) available for sending. Both have
certain issues.

1) My personal (hosting company) smtp
- Adds a very large tracking header and won't go to some sites ...
like cell SMS.

2) My ISP smtp server
- Seems to have issues with the big hosts like Hotmail.

The reason I use smail is that it is the default with Debian and seems
very configurable on a small scale like this, its just that
instructions are a little sparse.

Thanks in advance.

In case anyone is following this ...

I wasn't able to come up with a full implementation in Smail but this
seems to be working:

1) Set up smail to work with my ISP's SMTP server on port 25.

2) Since my ISP blocks port 25 to OTHER SMTP servers I configured
Smail to use esmtp as a pipe and then configured esmtp to deliver mail
to my alternate SMTP server on port 26.

3) esmtp has an "identities" ability using the command line "-f"
option. Using this I am able to selectively deliver mail via to
either SMTP server based on the recipients address.

So far it seems to be working OK. Its not truly a Smail solution but
it does seem "geeky" enough! :-)
