Slow start up

I have installed a new W2k3 server with Exchange 2k3 SP1.

The server hangs at "Applying computer settings" for 60 mins. After I
log on, the machine takes a further 20 mins before I am into Windows.

This only happens when the network cable is plugged in. If I unplug
the cable, the machine boots in minutes.

I understand that DNS is usally the root cause of this. The machine
has a static IP of 192.168.0.10 and it points to 192.168.0.10 for its
primary DNS. This is our DC which has the DNS service. The DNS service
has a forwarder set up to point to our ISP's DNS servers for external
resolution.

If I change the primary DNS on the machine to 127.0.0.1, it boots in
minutes but there is no network connectivity.

Can anyone be of any assistance??

Thanks

Problem solved - I changed the network cable!!! Strange really because
the "faulty" network cable has been fine for months on an XP client
