I'm running three websites off my Linux server.

#1) HTML Website/PHP-based forum
#2) Website
#3) HTML Website/PHP-based forum

After midnight lately, the entire forum on website #1 seems to slow to
almost a crawl. Also, uploading via the FTP seems to be rather slow.
Website #2 and website/forum #3 are both fast. My visitors have been
noticing this as well and there is no unusual traffic at this time.
What can be causing this problem?

Thanks for any help.

Steve...
Have you checked if website #1 is getting a lot hits during the night
compared to website #2 and #3?

Also, you could try monitoring the processes using "top" and see if there
are any processes hung or performance issues. You could also try running
webserver #1 only and see how performance is impacted...

You might want to look at your local crontab and / or your logfile cleaning
tool. 12 o'clock midnight seeme like a time that a lot of prgrams could use
as their default for housekeeping tasks...
