I have a Win98 PC that was formerly attached to an NT
domain. It is now attached to a cable modem. Each time I
reboot the PC pauses for about 30 secs before loading the
desktop and apps. I suspect that its looking for an NT
server and waiting for a response. Is there any way to
diable or remove this annoying delay?

Right-click the Network Neighborhood icon on the desktop and select
Properties. You should see a list of network components there - what does
that list contain?

I'm not at the PC now, but, it has two (physical) NICs,
AOL adapter, client for MS networks, TCPIP

Two network cards? Are both in use? If not, disable or remove the one that
isn't and that will probably clear up much of your logon delay right off the
bat.
