Hi Greg,
Is this domain or workgroup environment? If it is domain environment, make
sure that workstation's DNS setting (under TCP/IP configuration) points to
domain (active directory) DNS server (probably your domain controller IP).
Enter your domain controller's IP address under proffered DNS server under
TCP/IP settings.
Client's use DNS to find domain controllers. If your client's DNS points to
some other DNS server (e.g. your ISP) it will not be able to find domain
controller to logon to or it will take few minutes to logon (like in your
case).
If this doesn't help, can you check your server's and client's event logs
for any errors in System and Application logs...
