Hello
Recently set up network in office and have 1 server (AMD Atlhon 2800, 1 gig
ddr400 , 2 x IDE 7,200 Drives in Mirror raid.) installed with windows server
2003
Have 8 P.C's connected, all good spec with XP Pro SP2
Server gives dns and IP's
All data housed on server in folders 'data1,2 etc' on root drive
Browsing folders is very quick, and opening a word file generally takes 2-3
seconds including word opening, but about every 3rd or 4th time you opena
file (25kb max) it can take up to 30 or so seconds to open it, word window
opens but egg timer stays on, next time you a file it cab be ok or not. I can
open excel files quick everytime, it is just the word files that are taking a
time to load accross network.
All P.C's on 100Mb Full duplex connection, all plugged into switch and a
broadband modem/router is plugged into switch too, DHCP etc is turned of on
router as server does this job.
So it seems like just a problem with word maybe... Anyone ever come accross
this?
Cheer
Rob
