Slow File Opening with New Domain Controller

Okay, you'll have to forgive my ignorance, but I have a bit of an issue.
Workstation is trying to access a file, specifically a spreadhseet. Previous
to our setting up a new backup domain controller (Windows Server 2003), we
could pull up said spreadhseet in about 10-12 seconds, since it's on a mapped
drive over a WAN connection.

However, with the new DC in place, you click on the file and it takes 10-15
seconds before Excel opens, then once it's open, it takes another 20-30
seconds to open the file itself. Any ideas? I've checked the new DC and
backup DNS server and reverses are in place and correct and it's learning
from the primary DC (which is also the file server where this file is stored).

I'd appreciate any help you could give. Thanks!
