when i use my smc wired router, or just from the cable modem to the
computer, i have very fast download speeds..around 500kb per sec....

when using the dlink 614+ wireless router i get about 20kb dowload
speeds...(either using my laptop with a dw650 wireless card, or hard
wired)...something is throttling the speed or another problem is
happening....

have tried all firmware revisions and called tech support...no joy there...

anyone have this problem and fix with a setting of some kind?

A bad WAN side cable maybe? If you are verifying this with only one computer
on the network then collision is out of the picture. If you are, in fact,
using more than one system, then there are a lot more variables.

Under Advanced tab click Performance, set Preamble to short. This from
D-Link support and it helped me...
