My download speed is that or a two meg connection however it should be 8
meg

My router reports the following

ADSL
Type Fast
Status No Defect

Downstream Upstream

8096 448

Noise margin
5.9 23.0
Output power
11.8 12.2
Attenuation
9.0 4.5

Anyone know what all this means

Chris

Yet another stuck IP profile at a guess - persist with
speedtester.bt.com until it tells you the IP profile.

Hi Chris,
8mbps is the upper limit set for downloads in adsl standards.
and upper limit fo upload is about 2mbps. the speed depends on the
cable length from ur equipment to service provider and also on other
factors like interference from other sources.
your service provider might also have restricted your
speed.however all modems confining to adsl standards support 8mbps and
hence the label.

I'd suggest that some 'conform' more than others, or perhaps 'work' when a
number of others simply cannot cope. Although 8000 kbps has been part of
the spec for a number of units I have tried (and those tried by someone
at a local business, too), there have been noticeable differences in the
stability of connection and the data throughput when using certain units
compared with others. In particular, all the 'older' units have been far
from able to sustain several Mbps while a cheap Zyxel ADSL 2/2+ unit has
been reliable and faster.
