As everyone here might consider a speedy SSD drive to go with their
"superfast" internet, I would suggest for the meantime avoiding OCZ like
the plague. Although their claims and marketing ooooze speed apeal the
chance of getting their latest incarnation of drives working may be very
limited.
As for their RMA and Refund policy... you have to get dirty and get a
story highlighted on on The Register before they actually pull their
finger out...
Todays follow up:
http://www.theregister.co.uk/2011/07...bsods_ongoing/
and my original reported story
http://www.theregister.co.uk/2011/06...ex_flash_bsod/
If the drive doesn't work first hit you'll have an extremely tough
battle getting a refund and repeated RMA's (to Taiwan or Netherlands at
your expense).
In fact I might suggest avoiding any manufacturer using the latest
Sandforce 3 controllers as this seems to be a major failing with all
drives using it (certainly in the OCZ range)

Hopefully it might save you endless hours of bullshirt attempted "fixes"
offered by the "excuse" team.

Not an SSD, but I had to fight tooth and nail to get some OCZ memory
replaced under their so-called "lifetime warranty" recently. Took an
email to their CEO to get any action.

Glad you got a Crucial C300 - I've been very happy with mine.

Beware of 'Lifetime Warranties'.

They can easily respond that the product is dead, the lifetime has
expired - and so has the warranty.

This has actually happened [though not for this product].

They never tell you the lifetime of what. If it is the product, when
it fails it is out of warranty!

My very elderly mother now asks "My lifetime, or the product's ...?"

The secret is not to claim under any warranty. Claim against the
retailer under the Sale of Goods Act.

Very good point. I recall I did have quite a struggle with a
particular retailer. They initially did not want to deal with a £250
digital camera that developed a critical fault in its 13th month.

Most of them will try to fob you off with "it's out of warranty so
nothing can be done". It gets tiresome.

I would have done, but it was "complicated".
