SKYPE - anyone having login problems?

I'm unable to login to my existing free Skype account or get a new
password. I've emailed Support (with little optimism, based on my googling
about others' experiences). But, as I want to use my webcam today,
meanwhile I tried registering a new account. That failed too, with a
message telling me something like "Do so direct..." and linking me to a
download file.

Anyone else having problems please. After research I did find this

saying "We'll be carrying out a wide range of maintenance activities
between today and the 27th August 2010," but if that's the cause I'd have
expected to see many more user reports today.

Thanks.

When I tried again 6 hours later, Skype automatically installed an update
and I was happily able to get back in.
