Can I view skynews from the internet?

I don't think they do it. But you can get BBC via broadband. Its not the
whole BBC channels, but a selection of news, sport, weather, some TV
programmes

Well I did a search on Sky for you and each link took me to the Sky Sports
Broadband service, but not news

Its not a subscription channel, you don't need a viewing card to receive it.
Its also available on DTT (this week they are calling it Freeview)
Here in Manchester you can get it for most of the day on good old analogue
terrestrial TV, courtesy of Channel M (Salford University). Channel 39
