Sky Email Improvement..?

Email from Sky Broadband.

Should be good news for anyone battling Sky's email servers.

Hello

This summer, together with the clever people at Google and the photo
fans at Snapfish we've created Sky Email and Tools.

This means that over the next few months, your current Sky Email will
be moving to Sky Email and Tools 'powered by Google'. Don't worry your
email address i.e. (E-Mail Removed) will stay the same; it just gets a
new home.

It is a RRPITA for those using some more venerable *rigorously standards
compliant* email clients/servers.

Workarounds will of course be published once accounts have been moved
and the methods proved - but there is no mechanism to have an account on
both systems at once.

Sky seem to assume all users either use web-mail or Windows 'free' email
cock-ups. (As do Google, go figure...)

I would guess that those specifically affected users, who know about
'standards' in the first place, would be more than suited to running
their own e-mail server or outsourcing their domain MX to a competent
provider :-)

Indeedy, but emails from Sky concerning an individual's Sky BB account
will be sent to their *.@sky.com address - so some means must be found
to automatically receive (or collect) them.

My Sky account is the 'freebie' one on a second line, useful for
'testing things'.

The workaround using stunnel http://www.stunnel.org/ will be published
once that account has been switched.
