I understand that Sky supply a custom DG834G wireless router, with a unique
username and password embedded into the router ready to go...? Is it really
this simple to get online with Sky? If this is the case, then I assume all
that is needed is to connect the router to the line, and hook up a LAN cable
from the router to the PC? Is this correct?

Thanks

Pretty much........if all goes to plan.

I do believe they're supplying a different model router now.

Or, in my case, 5 months(!!!) of waiting and waiting for $ky to connect
me followed by 5 days while Be did so.

As simple as that. Then my Dad waited 5 weeks for a password that worked so
he could access his email!

Yes, as long as the PC is set to auto-assigned IP addressing (which is
the default).

I waited from September last year (when I applied) to May this year.
Apparently Sky had capacity problems on this exchange. On the morning
of the day I was supposed to be connected the phone line went dead (no
dial tone) - not good news on the first day of a Bank Holiday
weekend. But once the phone line was back working, everything else
went like clockwork.
