Hi all

I wonder if anyone could help me. I connected yesterday to SKY broadband
connect package. I using a belkin F5D7633-4Av1 modem router as the router
they are supposed to supply will take 15 days to reach me.
Yesterday it connected at 8128Kbps with a noise margin of around 7dB, I
turned the router off last night and when I rebooted it today I was
connected at 6400Kbps and a noise margin of 11.9dB. I've tried reboots and
it still sticks around the 6000Kbps mark.
Below are the latest from the modem.

Data rate (Kbps) 6176 448
Noise margin (dB) 11.9 22.0
Output power (dBm) 19.8 11.9
Attenuation (dB) 39.0 21.0

Have I done something wrong of will it go back to 8128?

Many Thanks

John E

I'd suggest you don't turn it off overnight. It takes some time for your sync
speed to adapt but it can go down faster than it'll go up.

Possibly, but the nature of ADSL max is that it auto tunes itself to
find your maximum stable rate. It starts you off at 8128 and gradually
drops, sacrificing speed for stability until it finds a happy medium.

6-7dB is on the threshold of being stable. The higher the SNR value the
more stable your line is, so 8128 with SBR of 7 is theoretically stable
but local interference on the line could account for the drop.

I'd be happy with 6.5 to be honest, I'm stuck at 2 and a bit!
