I`m currently having a BT line installed and looking around at ADSL
Suppliers, Sky offer a "£5" Connect service and it says it`s a special
offer?

I know Sky hasn`t got their kit in our exchange so is it only "£5" a month
or is there hidden extras?

soon to be unbundled.

There are hidden extras.

The £5 will only last for 6 months and if easynet still haven't
installed their kit in the local exchange it will become or revert to
£17 per month.

I was paying £17 per month to start with, then it went down to £5,
then it went back up to £17. When I complained about it, I was told by
customer services that there were no plans to install their kit into
my exchange (Garforth, Leeds).

They must have had plans at some stage otherwise I wouldn't have got
on the £5 package at all. I don't know what brought about the change
of heart.

Anyway, I wasn't going to pay an extra £12 just because Easynet were
lagging behind their targets so I've taken my account elsewhere.

I'm now with adsl24.co.uk which doesn't have a minimum term of 12
months like sky does. Bear in mind that you won't be able to switch
straight away when your £5 offer runs out.

Jim.

That's total invented rubbish!!

I got the £5/month "Connnect" deal in February. After 6 months I got a
letter from Sky saying "don't worry, your £5/month deal will last until we
enable your exchange". LLU was finally enabled for me on 22nd October.

The speed is a lot higher now than with BT as well!

How do you know that this applies to everyone, dickhead?

Answer: You don't! (fucking moron).

This is the reply I got from sky.

Dear Mr Egan,

Thanks for contacting Sky Broadband.

I advise that only the Connect package is available at your exchange
at a monthly charge of £17.00. There are no plans to upgrade to the
Base, Mid or Max packages.

I regret that you are not therefore entitled to the £5.00 a month
offer.

If you need further help or information, please reply to this email or
contact us on 08705 515 515.

Kind regards
Gillian

This was *AFTER* I had already been on the £5 package and in reply to
my complaint about being shafted back up to £17 indefinitely.

I don't take kindly to being called a liar.

So if I sign up for the "£5" service once they install their kit in the
exchange can I then upgrade to their (16mb I think it is)?

Yes and No. My brother in law signed up on the promise he could get the
16Mb (quote from Sky when he phoned and asked) 'from next month' (this was a
few months back). He is now being told it will be 2009 or 2010 before they
do his exchange........ and deny saying it would be earlier.
