Site without DC

Hi,

We have a problem with sites in Windows 2003.

Two subnets, sepparated by a router. (All traffic passes during testphase)
10.0.10.x/24 - Site01
10.0.20.x/24 - Site02

Site02 is small, and doens't need a DC. So on the DC in Site01, we've
configured "Sites covered by the DC locator DNS SRV Records" in the policy.

Still, clients in 10.0.20.x/24 get Site01 as there site...

Anybody any idea?

Thanks in advance,

ThomasV

you must configure in the snap-in "Sites and Services" two Sites
and must be create for each site the subnet.
Then you must configure the site costs.
Read this "Automatic Site Coverage":
http://technet2.microsoft.com/Window....mspx?mfr=true

But if you want, you can explicit say, that the DC is the DC
for the other site.
You must configure this in the Registry from the DC
in your Site 1.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\
Services\Netlogon\Parameters

We've did this part...

According to http://support.microsoft.com/kb/306602/en-us
this can be done by setting it in the local policy for the domain controller
(windows 2003)

My question is why are you creating an additional site if there is no DC at
the site? A site is a replication boundary and without a DC, it doesn't
really serve a purpose.
