I'm planning an off site location in a few weeks. I have ip address my
address in house is 135.11.12.x with a 22 bit subnet mask. My alternate site
will be 135.11.20.x with a 22 bit subnet mask. My problem is I have the
servers set up here in house and they can not talk to each other.

I have Active Directory Sites and services set up with the site link and a
subnet for the 135.11.20.x. Can anyone shed some light as to why they can't
talk?

What are current IP addresses of the servers?

on the 12 side they are 135.11.12.x and on the 20 side they are 135.11.20.x
both with a 255.255.252.0 subnet.

Hi,

Sorry, few more questions about this. Are these two sites already up and
running?

What happens if you run:

tracert 135.11.12.x

from server 135.11.20.x

where x is IP address of one and the other server... What happens if you it
in oposite direction?

Sites aren't physically up yet. Servers are still in house (on the 12 nework
configured with the 20 address). If I run a tracert to the 20 side it looks
to go out over the internet, if I tracert the 12 it resolves in house.
Perhaps I will not be able to see any of this until it's physically set up?

Hi,

It looks to me from your description that your two computers are in
different subnet while being on same LAN. You have two options...
- set up router between them
- put 135.11.20.x computer into 135.11.12.x network until you move it to
another location...

Personally I would go with option two.

OK you actually answered my question. I did need a router between and it
will not talk on the same lan. That's what I thought, I just wasn't sure I
was correct. Thank you very much.
