Single NIC VPN questions

I am trying to setup VPN for the first time, and it is not as easy as I
thought it would be.

Here is the situation: We have a Windows Server 2003 box sitting behind a
Sonic Firewall device, and have a sales database sitting on the server. We
have a sales rep out of state with that needs to connect to the database
sitting on the server. The program that we use for the sales software
recommends setting up a VPN for this purpose. We currently do not run a VPN.
The Sonic Firewall has the VPN settings on it, but it is way over my head for
the info it asks for.

I have Modem -> Sonic Firewall -> Switched Router. Everything else (Server
and PC's) are connected to the switched router. The IP assigned by the ISP is
configured in the Firewall on the WAN side and the IP of the server is
configured on the LAN side, so my server never sees the external IP address.
So it would make sense that setting up VPN on the server will do nothing for
me, or will it? Am I forced to setup VPN on the Firewall device, and if so,
does anyone have any idea how?

Any help is appreciated,

You do need to forward port 1723 for PPTP pass through on the Firewall.
VPN Setup
To create VPN connection, open Networking Connections>New Connection
Wizard>Set up an advanced connection>Accept incoming connections, then
follow the ...

Learn it. What you're trying to do isn't going to be any simpler.
Don't confuse the parts of the SonicWall for Site-to-Site VPN -vs- Remote
Access VPN,...these are two entirely differnt types of VPN for two different
types of purposes.

Call SonicWall support,...that's what you paid the subcription fee for when
you bought the SonicWall.
