Simulator

hi guys, i just wanted to ask if anyone knows much about creating
simulator using java. I'm basically doing a project called 'modelling
IP traffic in 3g mobile network'. Im supposed to be craeting a
simulator that analyses the traffic travelling over the 3G network. Im
that good with programming so im nt sure what types of methods i should
be using. I also wanted to know if there are any existing types of
simulators like this that i could just use to test out and to have a
look at the types of tools that have been used.

I would really appreciate it if anyone could help me out.
