Are you trying to shutdown the remote machine?

Use ctrl-alt-end

Cheers

To send a ctrl+alt+delete to a remote desktop session, use the right
Alt key (sometimes marked Alt Gr) and the delete key - don't use the
Ctrl key.

I believe you're thinking of how to send Ctrl Alt Del to a MS Virtual Server
or Virtual PC guest. For a RDP session it's Ctrl Alt End.

I spend so much time accessing so many different machines, I find myself
confusing RDP sessions, virtual sessions and even KVM sessions and end up
pressing the wrong keys sometimes.

Sorry for posting again with the same problem, but this time I'll cut to the
relevant question:
If I create a static UNIQUE record in WINS for a server that has already
dynamically registered a different name with WINS, can this be problematic?
This is the only way I know of to create a WINS "alias".

Yep, it does work on MS Virtual machines, but it works on Remote
Desktop, too - try it!

Add an additional IP# to the same nic first,...then assign the new name to
the new IP#.
Obviously the machine cannot be a DHCP Client.

I don't know what this has to do with Crtl-Alt-Del in an RDP session.

Lanwench, Dave,

I have just confirmed this again - I thought I was imagining it!!

I am using XP Pro Service Pack 3 with the latest RDP client, and I am
logging into servers running Windows 2003 R2 SP2, and servers running
Windows 2000 Service Pack 4, and in each case when I press Alt Gr +
Del I bring up the Lock Computer / Logoff / Run Task Manager / Change
Password Dialog on the Remote machine.

I don't know if this has any bearing but I always use the /console or /
admin (depending on version) switch when running RDP sessions.

....nope, just tried a session without the switch and it still works.

Curious... I'd love to know what versions you are using, 'cos it
definitely works for me!
