In my girlfriends student house we have a 4 port belkin router sharing their
NTL Cable connection. Now a 5th person wants in. Will the router be fine
with chaining a hub off one of the ports or can it only cope with doing
address translation for the 4 connections?
I assume it will be fine, but you never know!

Yeah, either use a crossover cable between two normal ports or if your hub
has an "uplink" port, use a normal patch cable and press the button for
uplink
