Hi All,

On my linux server, I use crond to check to see it the backup tape
has been
changed. If not, I eMail the operator, which she does not read for at
least 24 hours.

Is there some way I can just signal her on her xp computer. Some
kind of pop
up that I can tell her to change the tape?

Many thanks,
-T

Get an "operator" that knows how to do the job.

smbclient --message with some options will send a winpopup
message to a windows machine. The default for most windows
machines now is to not show these messages..... not sure
how it's going to work with your co-worker's computer will
work.
