signal goes up&down

Hi all,

Just put a wireless netgear router in for a customer and a belkin wireless
card with the aerial, the problem is the signal goes up and down quiet a lot
and is only at half strength to start with. The router is in 1 room and the
pc is 2 rooms away on the same floor, I have tried changing the channels but
this does not seem to have improved can anyone help
