Siemens SE587?

The other night my Netgear managed to corrupt its firmware mid upgrade,
via Wifi so I lost access.

As a standby in case of such problems I had the free from Tiscali
Siemens SE587 already set up, configured and ready to drop into place -
except I never checked it actually worked until my Netgear died.

I plugged it all in and got no response at all, so I did a reset and
then a factory reset. Setting my browser to look at its configuration
page, all I found was 192.168.1.1/WebBoot.html

That page had a drop down to browse my PC to upload a file. I assumed
for a firmware update and (once I had got my Netgear working again) I
managed to find a copy of the firmware and upload it. It seemed to
upload OK, but I could still only get into that WebBoot page.

Has anyone any suggestions what to try next please?

As a matter of interest - I managed to sort out the Netgear by plugging
it into a wired LAN connection and the use of Netgears 'Recovery Util'.
It doesn't seem to care what IP # your LAN card is set to, so long as
it has a wired connection. Usefully it retains all your configuration
just as before. So it just plugged back in and on. My biggest problem
was finding which PC I had stored the 'Recovery Util' on.

Have you got the manual for the 587 ? If not I did find it online.

There's a 'biggish' one online. It really goes into detail. Took ages to find
it.

Through a wired connection to the SE587 you should get a page at:

http://192.168.1.1

Have you tried holding in the reset button for 30 secs?

Yup. Or is it 1.2 ? You probably have it in front of you, I'm just guessing
from having to configure the neighbour's one.

Is that a 'factory reset' ?
