I've just installed Debian 'Sarge' on a desktop pc. Everything works
fine, I've got Apache and Postfix running and can connect to it with
ssh. After a short period, the pc goes into some kind of powerdown
mode, the monitor goes off and all goes quiet. A touch of the
keyboard brings it back to life.

But while it's in this mode, there is no network access, I can't ssh,
access the web server or even ping. I've looked for settings in Gnome
and KDE but can't find anything. Is there some config file somewhere
that needs changing?

Thanks

Dan

Hi.

Most likely you have apmd daemon running.
# ps -ef | grep -i apm

Disable him or remove completely.

Thanks Andrey, it actually turned out to be a bios setting.
