show LAN icon in notification area?

How do I get the LAN icon to show up in the notification
area?

This is a check box option in XP under network card
properties.

I cannot find out to do that in W98. I'd like to be able
to see / monitor LAN traffic.

This feature does not exist in Windows 9x/ME. There are 3rd party tools that
can place a network card icon in tray.

You may monitor all kind of performance items by installing the System
Monitor (Add/Remove Programs | Windows Setup | System Tools) but it has no
icon in tray.
