Find another major area of study. If something is boring, it will not
get less boring, but only boring in more detailed elements that you will
not understand.

But... if you want some excitement, turn off firewall and antivirus,
connect directly to your ISP without a router for timed periods starting
at 15 minutes and increment the time period in 15 minute intervals.
Before you start, image your hard disk and set a restore point (assumes
XP) so you can restore the initial conditions before each new time
period.

Report the number and types of viruses, trojans, and other exploits on
the computer during each time period of unprotected exposure. Identify
the individual exploit and the process used to remove the exploit.
Describe any system level disruptions after all exploits have been
removed and the process used to restore the computer to an operable
condition before restoring the HD for another time period of exposure.

Repeat the entire process with a consumer grade NAT router with default
setup inserted between the computer and the ISP source.

This might prove interesting. ...or not.
