Anyone know of suppliers or ready made 10cm & 30cm Cat5e cables (found a
number of 30cm ones but not the 10cm ones)

Before anyone suggests making them myself I have and not sure if its the
crap connectors I have or something else but they just seem to be failing,
some pins not making contact, not clicking into the patch panel etc etc
(used 3 different suppliers of connectors all were the same)

I guess you're not using a proper crimping tool, or you're using the
wrong cable for your plugs - most are designed to work only with solid
or only with stranded cable, although there are some available that
claim to do both.

Did not realise you could get different plugs. I have a proper cimper and
solid cable. How would you know which cable plugs are for? I have never seen
any indication

Dunno, sorry. Can you check wherever you got them from? I'd guess that
most are for stranded cable though, as solid cable is usually terminated
in a socket, not a plug.

My honest opinion is to make them yourself, my entire network is made up
of Home made cabling and it works perfectly, if you ,as you say, find it
somewhat difficult to make the cables then might i suggest to ask a
freind to make the cables up for you. If you havent got any friends
though, then i am afraid your pretty much stuffed

Have a look at http://www.homestead.co.uk/

We get a lot of our cables from them - fast delivery and they'll make to
order
