I understand that it is not a good idea, from a security point of view, to
have a shred drive and its files in a home network.

I turned off the sharing on drive C on my 98SE and as expected I was no
longer able to access iy from the other computer.

What I did not expect is that I can't access, among possible other things
still to discover, my AddressBook and Diary.

The moment i turned the sharing back on the Adddress Book and the Diary
became again available.

These items have nothing to do with the other computer, and so I am at a
loss to understand why this is happening.

Any help appreciated

bye

What address book? and what diary? what programs are you using to open
these? Do you get an error message when you can't access them?

Thanks Gary

Your reply made me think...

What was happening is that when I changed the drive from sharing to not
shared the SHORTCUTS on the desktop were no longer pointing in the right
direction...

They were looking at the Network Computer (Main): Main\C:\ etc whilst now
they must look at C:\etc

Thanks for your help

Jorge
