Sharing a printer between ME and XP

I have three computers in my network. One running XP, and
two running ME.

I have a HP Deskjet 970cxi connected to the XP computer
using USB. The printer is shared.

When I try to print on the deskjet from either of the ME
computers I get bluescreen and error: 0E : 0028 :
C02D3720 in file VREDIR(06)+00006C5. If I hit enter in
response to bluescreen, printing works OK.

All three computers are running pukka, licenced and
totally up to date software according to Windows Update.
All have the latest HP drivers for the particular OS.

Can anyone help?
