Sharing a folder on a portable USB HardDisk across the network?

Hi
I work in a fairly large company with XP SP2 installed on our
workstations. Not sure of the server except it's MS.

I have a portable hard disk on the F: drive.
I want to share a folder on it called Moonbase
I turn on the 'Share this Folder' & accepted the defaults

The path to it is:
\\Bth-xxxx\MoonBase

It doesn't mention the F:

Is it possible to do this?

Sharing a folder on my C: drive works fine.

What am I doing wrong?

Nor would it. BTH-XXX is your computer name - you're sharing something from
your computer. the fact that it's an external USB drive doesn't matter.

Yes, it's possible. Whether it's wise or not is something else.

This is no different.

You haven't said anything's wrong yet at all. From another computer, try to
go to \\Bth-xxxx\MoonBase and see what happens.

I do suggest you get your IT folks involved - they may not wish you to do
this.
