Hi,
Here the set up : 1 desktop PC connect to D-Link (DI-614+)and modem
highSpeed (not dialup) and 1 notebook with wireless enable. I surf without
problem in Internet with the notebook.
I want now to easy access to my PC Hard disk from my noteboook. What is the
procedure to follow? The PC has win2k and the notebook has XP home.
Thank's
Daniel

Well,

I'll tell you that the router is only the gateway for the LAN and the
router doesn't have to be configured in order for machines behind the
router to share resources. Both machines with their respective O/S must be
configured to do *File Sharing*. There are tons of articles on Windows 2000
or XP *File Sharing* out on Google.

Thank's Duane for your response. I will do my «homeworks» : Searching for
File Sharing on Google.

Duane,
I followed your advice (search on google).
Now I see on my notebook my PCDESKTOP but if I open the icon, I see only the
hard drive attached to my PC. I don't see the Local Disk (C) . Why?
May be another search on Google

On Win 2k, you select a folder you want to share on the network and you
right-click it and go to Properties/Sharing. You should be able to take
it from there. On XP it is much more difficult to do it properly. But you
first must take XP out of Simple File Sharing. Look it up on Google, and
when you take it out of SFS on XP, then follow the same procedure as you
did on Win 2k. If you make the user-id and psw the same on both machines,
then you will not have to logon to the other machine.

You're behind the router but it's best to *harden* the O/S to attack.

HTH
