On a simple two-pc network sharing files and internet, is it possible in
some way to make the IE "favorites" common to both pcs? That is, when I
add a bookmark to the laptop, it's also added to the other pc?

Not on a simple network, no. If you have a centralised server, so that
people logging on to each individual machine were logging into the
server domain, then the user settings and "My Documents" will be
stored on the server meaning that it doesn't matter which physical
machine you use. That's common in corporate environments, but it's
unusual on a home network.

You could use something like xcopy with a schedule, or simplecopy2000, to copy
the bookmarks from one machine to the other. You'd need to ensure it does it,
say, once an hour, and also to do it both ways only copying new and newly
modified files.

Either that, or use Firefox and point its settings at the same bookmarks.html
file on both machines.

My computer runs at 3.5MHz and I'm proud of that

Or, if you're feeling brave, you could change the registry setting:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Explorer\Shell
Folders\Favorites

to point at the same location on both machines. Things might all go
pear-shaped if you lose the network connection though, unless you have that
shared folder cached.

You could try syncback from http://www.2brightsparks.com/downloads.html

The freeware version is an the bottom of the page.

This can be set to run on a schedule (probably best on just one of the
computers) and to synchronise two folders.
